About me

Hi, my name is Maureen. After years of studying, doing various jobs unrelated to my studies and wondering what my dream job would be, I realised that the answer had been staring me in the face all along. I am a writer. Sometimes I get paid for the words I write and others I don’t, but stringing words together and sharing them with the world is what makes me happy and that’s how Island Fairy was born.

The people I have in mind the most when I’m writing here are my children. I write mostly about them and for them. The best thing about writing this blog, however, has been getting to know like-minded people whom I can share my thoughts and adventures with. I am so glad you found this space. I hope you stay a while and share your thoughts and adventures with me too.

  1. Saw this on Parents’ Room on Facebook and thought of you 🙂 Have a good day

  2. Hi Maureen, I’ve never met you but I thought I’d stop by and say hello. I learnt of your blog thanks to the Times article published last week and I’ve been engrossed in your posts ever since! Being a lover of the written word myself, your posts are a breath of fresh air and the perfect window into living and raising kids in Gozo. Good luck with the Library project; growing up, I remember finding it difficult to borrow books that actually interested me.
As for the whole concept of blogging, I’m quite new to it but do feel free to visit http://richardaniela.com/dearest-rhapsody/ 🙂

  3. Thanks Maureen! I just hope that the weather does not suck all creativity out of me… I ended up craving the heat of a Gozitan summer reading your past posts. It’s not all rosy up North, but it can get beautiful nonetheless 🙂 Have a good day!

  4. Hi! I’ve been following your blog for a long time and have always loved it. When I migrated from WordPress.com to wp.org I lost a lot of my blogroll and have missed seeing all my old favorites. Anyway… this morning I came across this link and it instantly made me think of you. I look forward to reading all your more recent stuff to catch up. 🙂 http://www.worldmomsblog.com/contributors-2/

  5. Found you through Design Mom, enjoyed poking around… I identify with your mom thoughts in places and the streak of melancholy that runs through some of your words.

What are your thoughts? Share them here!
